Itinerary:

This is a fitness hike for intermediate to advanced hikers who would like to sleep in just a bit on Saturday, get a nice little workout and get home while there is still a hint of daylight left.

The hike is approximately 10 miles round trip at a fast pace. We will start the hike from the top of the waterfalls and hike counterclockwise, heading first up the Hike Inn trail for 5 miles to have lunch at the Inn.  Generally, the Inn has some leftover desserts and other epicurean delights from the night before.  You may also refill your water and get a hot beverage.  Please tip accordingly.

After lunch, we will head up the Len Foote trail for a mile to the intersection with the AT Approach trail.  From there, we'll hang a left and take the AT Approach trail back to the parking lot, a mere 4 mile stroll through the woods.

We will stop to regroup at the Inn (for lunch) and the intersection of the Len Foote trail and the AT Approach trail (if you make a right hand turn, your day just got a whole lot longer).  We will also make sure no one makes the left hand turn to head back up the Hike Inn trail near the end (that could also ruin a perfectly good day).

For those who have been here before, this is a fitness hike.  Knock yourself out and run like the wind.  For those who have not been here before, no worries.  We'll go fast, but make sure you make the right turns.  We'll also make sure you make the left turns.....if they're right.

This event is dog friendly, meaning there will be friendly dogs on this hike.  Part of the reason for the counterclockwise route is to avoid the crowds on the Hike Inn trail in the afternoon.

We should be back in Atlanta by mid to late afternoon.

Please note that we are meeting at the Chastain Park and Ride and not the other one.  I won't mention the other one by name because then it will become ingrained in your mind and you will show up at the other one.
