Itinerary:

Two years ago I was doing solo early morning hike and I see score of poeple walking down. It turned out that Stone Mountain sunrise association do Easter Sunrise prayer service every year. I registered that event in the momery and now its time to hike to the top with AOC buddies and watch the service and those who want to pray are most welcome to do that.

Easter Sunrise Service

We will start in dark at 6.20 AM sharp to make it to the top at 7.00AM. Sunrise time is 7.26AM. After sun comes up, we will descent and will do the loop around the mountain (Clockwise). This is a five mile loop, the totoal hiking distance for this hike would be 6.5-7 miles.

In addition to see the sunrise and Easter Services, the goal of this hike is to enjoy a vigorous workout too.
We will take two breaks, first one at top of stone mountain and other at Grist Mills for restroom and a quick snack. We will maintian an average pace of about 2.75 miles per hour.

We will meet at Confederate Hall Parking Lot.

Watch the weather! This event will be cancelled due to rain. Portions of the trail consists of exposed granite on steep slopes. It is simply too slippery and dangerous when wet. You will be notified via email earlier if the event has been cancelled. Likewise, a "cancelled" notice for the event will appear on the AOC calendar.

Meet at 6:15 AM - the hike starts at 6:20AM sharp!

Any questions - email me.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Directions: To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 8, the Stone Mountain Park Main Entrance. After entering the main entrance, proceed straight ahead. The road will fork at about 1 mile – stay to the right. Continue to follow the road for another mile.  Look for the large Confederate Hall parking lot on your left where we park during the hike.  We'll gather at our "usual AOC meetup spot," by the stone restroom building at the base of the Walk-Up Trail

You can also enter through the West Gate entrance, in Stone Mountain Village. If you enter here, turn right through the gate and you're just almost to the Confederate Hall parking lot on your left.
