Itinerary:

Experiencing sunsets at Stone mountain has been rare occurences lately, and this coming weekend is not likely to be an exception. Wednesday's weather promises to be splendid! I anticipate a nice sunset will accompany a nice day. So, join me for the sunset viewing, preceeded by a moderate hike, if your time permits.

SUNSET IS AT: 8.25PM

Those that wish to partake only in sunset viewing due to time constraints and/or evening rush hour are welcome to sign up for this event. We will gather around 7:50pm to proceed to the top of  Stone Mountain. Just let me know this is what you plan to do. Plan to arrive before 7:50 to go to the top with us.

We will be begin the hike at the confederate parking lot (near the restrooms) for a round trip to and back from grist mill. If time permits, we will take a quick round trip to the Nature garden trail as well. Finally, we will take an Easy to Moderate Hike to the top via an alternative route through the woods. We will spend some time at the top taking in the view and watching the sunset. There will be a chance for some photos before we begin our descent via the main trail. This hike is suitable for beginners and those who wish to enjoy the great views from the top of Stone Mountain.

As it will be getting dark towards the end of the hike, I recommend everyone bring a small headlamp or flashlight for the descent down.

The hike will be approximately 7-8 miles and will involve some steep sections so please bring appropriate footwear.

There is a $10 parking fee to enter the park if you do not have an annual parking pass; however, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email Hakeem.
