Itinerary:
From the parking lot we will walk 1.1 mile on the Swimming Pool trail until its junction with the Mountain Creek trail, which is a 3.2 mile loop. We will walk this loop clockwise, and then return to the parking lot via the Swimming Pool trail.

The Mountain Creek trail follows and crosses several streams and is quite pretty. No wading will be necessary. Total walking distance: 5.4 miles.

Optional: After the hike we will have Sunday brunch buffet at the Mountain Creek Inn, across from Callaway Gardens.

Expected hiking time: about 2.5 hours.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Proceed South on Interstate 85 until Interstate 185. Continue south on Interstate 185 until Exit 34/GA 18. At the top of the ramp turn left (East) on GA 18. After about 6.7 miles you will see an entrance to Callaway Gardens on your right. At that point, GA 18 transitions into GA 354. Continue straight on GA 354 a little over 3 miles, crossing US 27 in the process. The swimming pool will be on your left. If you drive under a stone bridge you went too far!

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $56.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
Will this event occur rain or shine? Yes. If the rain is too heavy to hike, we will visit FDR’s Little White House, which is in nearby Pine Mountain (admission is about $7.00 per person).
