Itinerary:

We’ll meet at 8:30 AM at the Chastain Road Park and Ride lot located adjacent to the Brandsmart USA at 3305 Busbee Drive Northwest, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Be prepared to get wet on this hike!!

The Plan:
The hike begins with a half-mile uphill hike to summit Bald Mountain at just over 4,000 feet in elevation.   Next we take the steep, downhill trail to Bray Field for 3.4 miles.  Bray Field is a big intersection and camp area.  We’ll head right along the Conasauga River Trail for 3.2 miles to the junction of the Chesnut Lead Trail.  This section will have numerous river crossings ranging from ankle to waist deep.  Hiking poles are recommended.  We will then take the Chesnut Lead Trail for 1.4 miles back to the forest service road.  It will be a short walk on the road (less than a mile) back to the cars.  This hike includes a variety of scenery from mountain tops to lush river valleys in a rarely seen wilderness area.
