Itinerary:

Pine Mountain has a network of horse trails that venture deep into the forest. These trails are beautiful and shady, and in years of walking on them I have never met neither horse nor human. Our itinerary will include a short portion of the Pine Mountain trail and several sections of other trails.

Required Items to Bring:

water, picnic lunch, trekking poles and good hiking shoes.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Proceed South on Interstate 85 until Interstate 185. Continue south on Interstate 185 until Exit 34/GA 18. At the top of the ramp turn left (East) on GA 18. After about 6.7 miles you will see an entrance to Callaway Gardens on your right. At that point, GA 18 transitions into GA 354. Continue straight on GA 354 (crossing US27 in the process) about 4 miles, until you get to GA 190 at a stone bridge. Turn left onto GA 190 and proceed about 6.6 miles. The parking lot will be on your right.

Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):140Mile(s)

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $56.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Will this event occur rain or shine? Yes. If the rain is too heavy to hike, we will visit FDR’s Little White House, which is in nearby Pine Mountain (admission is $7.00 per person).

If you are interested in participating in the Chewacla State Park on Saturday, consider staying in Auburn overnight.
