Itinerary:

Anybody want go for a hike before your Thanksgiving feast? If you want to burn a few calories or are just stuck in town join me for a hike the morning of Thanksgiving Day. Sweetwater State Conservation Park is one of the treasures to be found near metro Atlanta. This park offers beauty and wildlife viewing for visitors all year long in addition to some Civil War history. The park sets atop the Brevard Fault which makes the terrain steeper than the surrounding areas. The creek itself offers many scenic spots as it tumbles over the shoals and the natural dam nearby.

We are going to start on the white trail (3 miles) which will lead us past Jack's Hill and Jack's Lake, and eventually meet up with the red trail (1 mile) which runs along the creek. We'll pass by the mill ruins and then start up the blue tail which will end at the visitor's center (1mile). At this point hikers will have the option to continue hiking on the yellow trail (3 miles) with the trip leaders or proceed with the rest of their day.

Note: there is a $5 per vehicle parking fee. No carpool for this event.

Dogs are more than welcome but need to be on a 6 foot leash.
