Itinerary:

Join us for a walk to the Edge of the World, rapid that is. We'll be walking the Amicalola River Trail (THIS is NOT the FALLS and NOT Part of the State Park) which meanders along the river and the class IV rapid known as Edge of the World.

Georgia Trails.com describes the trail as a loop trail that starts at the canoe ramp on the north end of the gravel parking lot on Georgia 53, follows the river to the Class IV "Edge of the World" rapids then climbs into the mountains of the Dawson Wildlife Management Area, offering a look at an old homestead, logging roads and a few excellent views especially in the late winter and early spring.  It concludes along a babbling brook, ending across the road from the parking lot.

The trail is 2.95 miles so we can walk it twice! It is a very picturesque area and a great place for shutterbugs to snap a few pics. There is a GORP fee required to visit this area. I will purcahse the $13 pass for up to 8 people (half individual cost). Should their be a waiting list showing significant interest, I will purchase a second pass. Individual passes can be purchased at $3.50 plus service fees, so I believe it would be  best if we all went under one or two group passes.

After the hike those interested can have lunch at the Dawsonville Pool Room in downtown Dawsonville.
