Itinerary:

Please join us as we hike along one of the most popular and diverse mountain trails in North Georgia. We will cross small streams, traverse mild ridges and hike past hickory, pine and oak trees of North Georgia.  Backpacker magazine included the Hike Inn trail as one of 36 “Best American Hikes", and the Hike Inn was included on National Geographic Traveler’s “Stay List.”

We will depart from the carpool location at approximately 8:30 am, and the hike will begin from the trailhead at approximately 10:00 am.  This is a moderate to difficult loop hike at a moderate pace, and we will stop at various points along the trail.  We will stop for quick breaks at the following locations along the trail:  Frosty Mountain (the highest elevation of the hike), at the turn from the AT approach trail to the Hike Inn Trail, and at the Hike Inn itself.

We will start the hike at the top of the falls. From the trailhead, we will hike the AT Approach trail for about 4.5 miles with a short stop at Frosty Mountain.  We will turn right onto the Hike Inn Trail, and hike a mile to Len Foote Hike Inn.

We will stop at the Hike Inn for approximately 30 to 45 minuts to take photos and to eat our packed lunch in the Hike Inn's dining hall, as they do not serve lunch to day hikers.  The staff does provide some fruit and/or desserts along with coffee and tea; however, it is customary to leave a tip for the Hike Inn employees.  This is not a guarantee, so PLEASE plan to bring your own lunch and/or snacks.

We will continue back via the Hike Inn Trail, which is an easy-to-moderate trail takes between two and four hours to complete.  Once we return to the parking lot, then we can venture over to the top of the waterfalls for photos.
