Itinerary:

Let's go for an early morning heart pumping hike and catch the sun rising up through the trees if the weather cooperates for a sunny morning.  We will start at the visitor's center, and hike over Big Kennesaw, Little Kennesaw Mountain, and then to Pigeon Hill and come back the same way.  This is a fairly strenuous hike with about 1,100 feet of elevation gain overall from the climbs and drops between big and little Kennesaw so you should be in good physical condition for this hike.

This will be a “go at your own pace” hike with some opting to go fast or moderate depending on your preference so everyone will get spread out.  If you are not familiar with the trails, please view the link below for the West Trail Loop on the trail map.

We will meet outside of the visitor center.  For this early morning hike, there should be plenty of spaces available at the main parking lot.

Dogs are welcome but must be on leash in accordance with park rules.

There are Restrooms available at the Visitor's Center which open at 7:30am.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extenson.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain.  Take a left at the red-light onto Stilesboro Road and then a left into the visitor's center parking lot.

8) If the parking lot is full (which is probable):  Go back to Old 41 and take a left.  Drive until you come to another left, which is a new overflow parking lot for Kennesaw Mountain.
