Itinerary:
Join me for a hike at one of the lesser known units of the Chattahoochee Recreation Area: Settles Bridge. While there are no "official" developed trails at this park, there are many well-defined "use trails", and we will be mainly following them. There is a little off-trail hiking... (but on this terrain it would hardly be called proper bushwhacking).

Note: This event is listed as D3, rather than D2, only because there are three or four slightly steep riverbanks to be hiked/climbed up and down...nothing major, but not totally effortless or easy either.

Total hiking time should be between 90 min and 2 hrs...total distance between 4 and 5 miles. We will be enjoying a leisurely pace. This area of the river is very pretty and there should be a variety of wildlife to view, etc.

This is the first in what I hope will be a series of hikes visiting all the Chattahoochee Parks over the spring and summer.

Required Items to Bring:
walking shoes
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Hiking poles would be helpful
water and snacks

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Traveling north on I-85, take exit 111 and turn left (NW) onto Lawrenceville Suwanee Road. Proceed 6.1 miles (at some point the name of the road will change to Suwanee Dam Road)

Turn left on Johnson Road and proceed 1.1 miles. Turn right onto Settles Bridge Road and straight onto the road that takes you to the parking/trailhead (you will see the sign). While this last mile is on a gravel road, it is well graded and fine for all vehicles.

Notes:
I don't believe there is a parking fee, unlike the other Chattahoochee Parks.

Will this event occur rain or shine? No, not if rain is forecast at over 30% probability.
