Itinerary:

This is a repeat of the first section of the series of day hikes that covered the entire GA Appalachian Trail. It is designed for those that missed the first week, however, everyone is welcome to join.

This hike works best for every one to meet at car pool at Windward Park and ride.

We will drive to Hightower Gap, drop some cars there, then proceed further down to FS42 to the Springer Trailhead.

We will backtrack .9 miles up to the top of Springer mountain (elevation 3782'). This is the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. We then head toward Hightower Gap.  Onon\\ the way there we pass Three Forks ( 4miles ), and about a mile further we take a short side trail to Long Creek Falls where we have lunch. We then continue our hike toward the east, where in about 3 miles we reach iHawk Mountain. In about one additional mile we reach Hightower Gap. We then ride back to Springer Trailhead to our cars.

PLEASE NOTE: I LIKE EVERYONE TO STAY TOGETHER IN THIS HIKE, FAST HIKERS ARE WELCOME BUT MUST STAY WITH GROUP, SLOW HIKERS MUST BE ABLE TO HIKE 2.5 MILES AN HOUR. THIS HIKE IS DESIGNED FOR MODERATE SPEED HIKERS.
