Itinerary:

We will go at a steady, moderate pace, with some stops. This is an in and out hike with a total distance of  approximately 12 miles and vertical rise of 2,500 feet, We will be hiking east on the Appalachian Trail from Neels Gap to Cowrock Mountain. The hike includes several climbs and descents with a scenic view of Towns Creek Valley and the Georgia piedmont from the top of Cowrock Mountain.  This is our lunch spot.  We will also leave the option open to hike to the next mountain if time allows.  This mountain also includes good views from the summit.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

North on GA 400 from the park and ride. When GA 400 ends at the Chevron station make a left onto US-19/GA 60 until you reach Dahlonega. From Dahlonega, follow US 19 north for approximately 20 miles to Neels Gap. Park at the Walyasi-Yi Center on the right side of the road at Neels Gap.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $48.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
