Itinerary:

This hike includes the standard Standing Indian, but with all the bells and whistles.  Think of it as the Standing Indian hike with premium sound and chrome rims.

We will start at the main trailhead just north of Tate City (El. 2,900) and climb to Knife Case Gap (El. 4,740) over the course of 2.5-miles.  From Knife Case Gap we will kinda bushwhack a half-mile to the AT (the AOC has been here so many times, it's almost a real trail).

We will follow the AT for about a mile north to the side trail that will take us to the summit of Standing Indian (Elevation 5,499).  The side trail will be on the left and is easily missed going in either direction.  If you find yourself going downhill after a while, you've gone too far.  Standing Indian will be our lunch venue.

After lunch we will continue north along the AT towards Deep Gap (El 4,341) before we continue (generally) southwest on the less traveled portion of the AT towards Bly Gap (El 3,824).  In case you're worried, there's a few nice little climbs in between to keep your heart rate up.

Beyond Bly Gap, we will continue to Blue Ridge Gap (El. 3,050) where we will leave the AT, take a left, and follow trails that follow Flat Branch Creek and Charlies Creek for 3.5-miles to Tallulah Campground (El. 2,286).

This hike involves a shuttle (about 5-miles).  It also involves a wide creek crossing at the very end (it's called Tallulah River, but it's wide and shallow). We will leave one vehicle at the Tallulah Campground on our way to the trailhead.  We can also leave water shoes (if you use those sorts of things) at that one vehicle.  We'll probably be able to recruit someone willing to cross barefoot to retrieve them.

After the hike, we will might stop for dinner in Clayton (Mama G's or Universal Joint).

This is a strenuous 18+ mile hike with ~5,000-feet of elevation gain and is intended for advanced hikers only. Please do not sign up unless you have done a D5 before.
