Itinerary:

Let's start the holiday weekend with an end-of-summer paddling event. Nantahala Outdoor Center Azalea Drive Outpost in Roswell, GA is handling all the work so we can just have fun. We will gather at the Azalea Drive Outpost at 8:30 am to get our sit-on-top kayaks, paddles, and PFDs. NOC will then shuttle us to Garrard Landing. We'll launch from Garrard Landing and float/paddle downstream back to the Azalea Drive Outpost. Our route will take us past many of the places the AOC hikes - Garrard Landing, Island Ford, Don White Park, Riverside Park, Roswell Riverwalk, etc. It's a beautiful section of the river. You will appreciate the different view of these familiar places from the river.

This event is suitable for beginners. We will be traveling downstream so the 'force' will be with us. There will be some shoals along the way, mostly flat water. NOC allocates 4 hours for this event. We can get out of our boats at Island Ford to stretch our legs and get a snack, if desired.

Everyone on the event needs to be comfortable being on moving water. In the event you unintentionally get out of your boat, you need to be comfortable with being in the water and taking care of yourself until assistance from your fellow paddlers comes. We want everyone and all their equipment to start and finish this event. We also want everyone to have fun!

Please note: No alcohol. No smoking - any form.
