This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me on a trek in Nepal from Annapurna Dhauligiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world, to Khopra Ridge. We will be swept away by breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri & Annapurna ranges, crossing the high pastures above Kopra Ridge beneath Annapurna South, where ancient pilgrim trails lead to the sacred Khayer Lake. We will wander old yak herder trails to Upper Phulbari, above the level of often visited Poon Hill. We will take in the views on a Himalayan mountain flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. And we will explore Kathmandu's vibrant streets and ancient sites. Our trip has been put together for the Atlanta Outdoor Club by World Expeditions, which endeavors to reduce environmenal impact and increase benefits to the local economy. We will be camping in fully-supported luxury. 5 kilograms (11 pounds) of luggage will be transported for us, and we will be loaned down jackets, sleeping bags, and more. 

Daily itinerary 

Day 1-Join up in Kathmandu (1330m)

Day 2-Free day in Kathmandu

Day 3-Fly to Pokhara, commence trek to Dhampus (1990m) - walk approx. 3 hrs

Day 4-Trek to Landruk (1640m). Walk approx. 5 hrs

Day 5-To Ghandruk (2050m). Walk approx. 4 hrs.

Day 6-To Tadapani (2650m). Walk approx. 4 hrs.

Day 7-To Bhaisi Kharka (3420m), walk approx. 6/7hrs.

Day 8-To Kopra (3660m), walk approx. 7/8hrs.

Day 9-Free day in Kopra or optional day hike to Khayer Lake (4600m) 9-10 hours

Day 10-To Swantha (2400m). Walk approx. 6/7 hours.

Day 11-To Upper Phulbari (3210m), via Ghorepani & Poon Hill (3200m), walk approx 5/6 hrs.

Day 12-To Les Par via Jaljala Dil (2600m), walk approx. 6/7hrs.

Day 13-To Ghibrang (2000m), walk approx. 4/5 hrs.

Day 14-To Nayapul (1340m), walk approx 3/4 hrs and transfer to Pokhara

Day 15-Fly Pokhara to Kathmandu

Day 16-Trip concludes in Kathmandu

Single occupancy supplement: $450 (The trip leader must approve this in advance, so he will know how to make room assignments!)

Signing up for the trip: This web page is designed to put everyone on the waitlist. The trip leader will move people off the waitlist based on his determination, in his sole discretion, of each person's strength as a hiker, social compatibility, experience with the club, available sleeping arrangements, and any other factor he decides to consider. Trip leaders will be given special consideration. If the trip leader moves you to the event, you will get an email notifying you of this fact. That email will provide you with a link to the private web page where you can pay for the trip and get more detailed information about the trip. It is your responsibility to monitor your email and make payment as required below promptly after receiving confirmation you are on the trip. 

Paying for the trip: Immediately after you are added to the trip, you must pay the non-refundable $25 AOC, following the instructions below. The cost for the trip must be paid within five calendar days of being added to the trip directly to World Expeditions at the web page linked in the email you receive after being added.

Visas may be obtained from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions or at the airport on arrival in the country. you may check requirements here: https://www.immigration.gov.np/en/page/tourist-visa

Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

     - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.

     - Read the event description carefully for additional information, and contact the trip leader(s) with any questions.

*Note:

As noted above, the AOC fee is non-refundable. The payment for the trip will non-refundable once the minimum number of members pay for the trip. If any member who pays for the trip is unable to attend, they may help the trip leader find a replacement member. If the trip leader—in his sole discretion— accepts the replacement, the replacement must reimburse the member who dropped within five days of being added, or they will be removed from the event. I highly recommend trip insurance.
