Itinerary:

This trip has traditionally been one of our most popular and is an excellent one for first time kayakers.

We will be kayaking about 6 miles which should take approximately 2 1/2 hours (I build in extra time for the shuttle and for us to stop midway for a break). Highlights include remote and beautiful scenery and wildlife such as wood duck, great blue heron, beaver, deer, otter, osprey, turtles and turtles! There is a nice spot called Big Bend Beach about halfway through where we will stop for a snack and have a chance to play in the water. We will be going over some moderate class one rapids but nothing too severe. At the end of the trip, the outfitter will pick us and our craft up and shuttle us back to where we started.

First time kayakers should be aware that we will not have time for extensive instruction prior to starting our trip down the Chestatee. After a few minutes of familiarizing themselves with their kayak we will start down the river. There is the possibility that your craft will tip over so the ability to swim is a must. If you are unsure about your suitability for this trip please e-mail the trip leaders before signing up.

Please note we will be using sit on top kayaks that are practically impossible to sink.  Also they are extremely stable on the water and very easy to steer.  So if this is your first time paddling, this river and this boat are for you!

After the trip we will probably grab an optional late lunch in nearby Dahlonega for those who want to join.  My personal choice would be to go to the Crimson Moon Cafe, but other suggestions are welcome. Please coordinate ahead of time with your carpool driver if you want to join us.

Bring your own kayak - we will allow three personal kayaks for a fee of $15 each (to cover your shuttle cost, taxes, etc.). If you plan to bring your own kayak, the first three people who sign up and send an email to Allston indicating they will BYOK will be able to bring their own kayak. If you do bring your own kayak and plan to carpool, I would plan on being one of the drivers. Do not pay yet via paypal until you get a confirmation from me saying you can BYOK.

Payment is due within 48 hours of your signing up. If you don't pay within 48 hours of signing up, you will be automatically moved to the waiting list regardless of what your Paypal banner says. Don't expect a reminder email about payment being due. See Cancellation Policy below for more details. If you are paying using a method other than PayPal, email your Trip Leaders as soon as you sign up.

No partial payment for partial attendance.

The dudes that run this place are great. They work hard schlepping these kayaks around and work mostly for tips. Please bring a few bucks to tip them. I'm happy to collect tips and give them to the guys at the end. These guys are my favorite Outfitter because they do everything for you - they don't ask you to carry your kayak.

Please print, complete and sign the waiver and bring it to the event:
