Itinerary:

Camping season is here! It's one of my favorite times of the year, so let's head to the woods to enjoy the season. This month, we are headed to James H 'Sloppy' Floyd State Park.

Surrounded by rural countryside and the Chattahoochee National Forest, this quiet park in northwest Georgia offers outstanding fishing on two stocked lakes. Visitors can hike along three miles of lake loop trails and relax in swings while watching for the many bluebirds that live in the park. The trailhead to the scenic 60-mile Pinhoti Trail is only a 1.6-mile hike away.

Our site is located by itself and has water, pit toilets, two Adirondacks, a picnic table, fire ring, and grills. There is no electricity.  This is pioneer camping (aka car camping), so feel free to bring all your luxury camping gear...large tents, air mattresses, coolers, reclining camp chairs and more...all are welcome.

Friday night we will arrive and set up camp (feel free to arrive anytime after 1pm).  Dinner will be around 8pm, and we can enjoy the rest of the evening getting to know each other.  Saturday, after breakfast, we will do an area hike (probably a D3 or D4) and then the rest of the day is on your own. Kayaking, card games, bocce ball, watching grass grow, naps, or juggling are all excellent ways to pass the time. Later, we'll have a yummy dinner and then we can relax around the fire. Sunday, after a light breakfast, we will pack for home.

As with all of my trips, everyone pitches in to help cook and clean up afterwards.  To keep us organized, I will be e-mailing out a sign-up list for meals.  If you have a specific meal you would prefer to cook or clean-up for, please let me know in the notes section when you register for the trip.

Join me for another fun and relaxing edition of pioneer camping with Jenn!

*PLEASE NOTE: expect late nights carousing around the campfire, a little dog slobber, and an awesome weekend!
