Write Up:

We had an unusual weather phenomenon for the beginning of our hike. We were actually above a cloud layer when we got to the top of the mountain! Looking over the road at Little Kennesaw made the area around Little Kennesaw appear snow-covered! It was beautiful. Even the group picture at the beginning showed the fog in the background.

Lisa and Jeff were guides for the hike and kept the group moving at a brisk pace. The front of the group had to wait quite a while at Burnt Hickory for us stragglers to catch up. (We stragglers were able to get in several photographs along the way, though - - which the fast folks sadly missed out on.  :-)

We clocked in about 10 miles in less than 4 hours and were thoroughly drenched with sweat by the time we returned to the Visitor Center. But the hike was excellent, giving all of us a chance to meet some new faces.

A word to the wise . . . the parking lot at the Visitor Center is completely filled by 7:30 am on a Sunday morning!
