Write Up:
Today's hike was a hike of transitions.  It started out as a blistering hot, sunny, no-wind hike, and remained so until we got to the Mountain Road.  It started to thunder and rain to the south over Lockheed/Martin, and a breeze started to pick up.  Just as soon as we got to the top of Little Kennesaw Mountain, the thunder started to reach us.  Because of this, we turned the 10 minute rest break into a 0 minute rest break.  We had made great time by getting to the top of Little Kennesaw Mountain in only 40 minutes.  It took us less time to go back.  When we got back to the Mountain Road, the storm began to roll in on us.  Suddenly we were in the middle of a strong thunderstorm with lots of wind and a little bit of rain.  We decided to go ahead and take the trail down since it was the shorter route.  On the way down Big Kennesaw the lightning, thunder, and rain increased.  We rode it out under the eave at the visitor's center.  Everyone made it out okay.  It was quite a transitional hike!
