What a perfect day it was for a hike! It was windy and chilly at the onset. As is often the case, those of us who initially bundled up regretted the extra layers after about the first quarter mile. This evening the Oscar nominees will walk the red carpet, but we preferred walking our dirt and rock and root carpet. All around us were purple, yellow, pink and white wildflowers, with may apples as far as the eye could see.
We encountered a few friendly hikers but mostly had the trail to ourselves. Lunch break outside the Hike Inn on the adirondack chairs fortified us for the second half. A cameo appearance by AOC member Larry Cooper at the Inn was a welcome surprise.
All in all, it was a glorious day at Amicalola Falls. Many thanks to Marion for inviting me to co-lead. Congrats to John for nailing his first D4 like a boss. Welcome back to Joyce, after sheltering away from the AOC throughout the pandemic, and to Marylee who has been hiking up a storm (just not with the AOC) and to Kip who has also been mostly away from AOC events since lockdown. We are coming out of hibernation!

Clear skies, we could see
Kennesaw and Stone Mountains.
