A taste of autumn arrived just in time for our hike at Hyde Farm this morning.  We began by circling the pond before heading South down Mulberry Creek, crossing it about 9 times along the way.  Next we entered the Johnson Ferry North unit of the CRNRA, first transiting the base of the ridge trail south before moving over the the Chattahoochee River and following the river trail north.  Crossing once again into the Hyde Farm property, we walked the ridge before descending back down to the river level.  One final climb back to Hyde road, we headed to the front of the Powers Family cabin build in the 1830s.  We learned a little of the history of the Powers and Hyde families who farmed the land we were hiking through for nearly 180 years,  Then we headed back to the cars and the finish of our 5 mile hike at Hyde Farm.

Two milestones on this hike.  We welcomed Mark A who was on his very first AOC event.  And we bid farewell to Becky D who will be moving away shortly, but who promises to come back and visit us when in the area.  Welcome Mark and best wishes and safe travels to Becky. ~ Holt
