Write Up:

The weather was in the mid-50s when we started. On the return trip it had warmed up to the low-70s.

There are four bridges across the various creeks on this hike. Only one of the four could be crossed. With effort we were able to find a way to cross the creek at the first and fourth bridges. The third bridge has had the trail rerouted and is still difficult to cross but not as bad as in the past. With a lot of teamwork, we all completed the hike. Since last hiking this trail in June of last year, the trail has a lot more exposed roots and a lot of blowdowns we had to go around, over or under. There are also new trail makers. According to them, starting from the parking lot we went 21 miles for a total of 42 miles round trip, see pictures. We never figured out what they meant.

For those that have not done this hike. It requires a good bit of technical hiking skills, although it is not a hard hike and beginners should not be on this hike.

We stopped at the top of the falls, had an enjoyable lunch. The water was cold, and it was not quite warm enough to get into the water due to the air temperature. That did not stop Michael from going out until he was knee deep. About a mile from the parking lot Joyce tripped over a root and skinned both her legs. We found at that Micheal was an Air Force Pararescue. Between his medical knowledge and my first aid kit, she was hiking in a few minutes.

I am planning on during this on 7/30 as an adventure with both hiking and swimming.
