Regardless of a dismal forecast, 18 brave hikers took a chance that the weather wouldn't be all that bad. And we were all rewarded with an outstanding day! I think most of us were just plain tired of the wet weekend forecasts of late and itching to get back on the trail, I know that was the case for myself. Anna Ruby Falls had some terrific water flow with the recent rain and offered some exceptional views and photo ops. We continued on our way along Smith Creek Trail along a slightly wet trail, however cool and comfortable with the foliage in full splendor. We found an unused camping spot to stop and enjoy our trail lunch before continuing on to Helen where we had staged some cars at Unicoi Hills Park to shuttle our drivers back and get our cars. Dinner at 678 Korean BBQ was a 1st time experience enjoyed by many of us. Thanks to Sylvia for coordinating that for us. Also, many thanks to my co-lead, Sam, who helped make the day go smoothly, as well as to the entire group for the great attitudes and willingness to temp the rain gods.
