Kennesaw Mountain National Battefield Park is a fantastic area for intown hiking and fitness training.
.
We will start at the visitors center which has a rather nice museum and movie on the battles here in 1864. Afterwards, we will hike the Mountain Trail 1.2 miles to the 1808 ft. top of Kennesaw Mountain. From there, we will head across Little Kennesaw Mountain, over Pigeon Hill, then sync up across Burnt Hickory Road.  From there we'll head down the main trail towards Cheatham Hill 3/10 mile taking the first trail on the right.  This trail will run into Noses Creek after 6/10 mile where we will intersect again with the main trail at a wooden bridge.  We take a left there heading back towards Pigeon Hill for 2/10 mile taking the first trail on the right.  After 5/10 mile we'll cross Burnt Hickory Road again.  In 3/10 mile we take a left on the trail that circles the south side of the mountains and begin heading back up Pigeon Hill.  In 3/10 mile we intersect with the Mountain Trail once again just below the top of Pigeon Hill, take a right, and hike back to the visitor center over Pigeon Hill, Little and Big Kennesaw Mountains.
.
The total hiking distance is just over 7 miles with minimum rest breaks. Endurance is the name of the game today. You should be good to excellent condition!!
