Itinerary:

Starting at Hyde Farm, we will hike a route not usually taken. First, we head to the Morgan Falls Dam overlook. We double back, but instead of returning to Hyde Farm or walking along the Chattahoochee, we choose trails that take us into deeper woods and over a ridgetop where we will have a tour-de-jalopy (a couple of abandoned junk cars). We descend and eventually exit the woods where we will find ourselves in fields of blooming Black-Eyed Susans. We will walk along the Chattahoochee and return up Mulberry Creek with its multiple creek crossings.

Hikers should be able to handle short steep climbs and creek crossings. Because of the several creek crossings and a couple of steep grades, this hike is NOT recommended for beginners who haven't yet gotten their hiking feet.

There is a bathroom in a nearby building near the start of the hike. There is also a bathroom midway through the hike at the rafting boat launch near Johnson Ferry. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early to allow time for bathroom visits and readying water, snacks, hiking poles, etc.

Here is my All Trails Route with photos of our planned hike. You are also welcome to visit the trip leader's personal hiking and adventure blog at Uphill Hikes.
