Itinerary:

Let's take it nice and easy and stroll through Leita Thompson for a couple of hours.  The trails are wide and easy to travel, with a few mild hills that will be easy at our pace.  If you're itching for a workout, better go to the gym.  We want to keep the group together and enjoy a nice morning of mild exercise.

The trails at Leita Thompson are wide and relatively free of rocks and roots. Though there are changes in elevation, they're moderate and fairly easy to handle if you've been doing some recent hiking.  We'll be moving at a moderate pace (not slow!), getting in about 5 miles in 2 hours.

There are no bathrooms, but there are three sets of porta potties throughout the park. And - - of course - - there are plenty of trees.  Using the porta potties will likely result in a nice exit photo of you to add to the photo album.  :-)

I will start on time, so please arrive a few minutes early (9:50 am) to check in and meet your fellow members.

Be ready to turn into the park driveway as soon as you pass through the traffic light on Woodstock Road.  We'll be meeting in the large lot where the Art Center building is located. If you park in the pavilion lot, you'll have to walk up the gravel road to meet the group.  It's best to just drive up the road so that we can all park in the large overflow lot.

Parking is free.

Required Items to Bring:

Water, gatorade or whatever you like to keep hydrated (important)

Appropriate shoes for a woodsy hike relatively free of roots and rocks.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Hiking poles if you like to use them, though the trails are relatively smooth.  No rocks or roots to maneuver.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

N 34.06258,  W -84.40270

1355 Woodstock Rd,  Roswell, GA 30075

Woodstock Rd just past intersection of Woodstock and Mountain View roads

There are three parking lots in the area:  one for the dog park, the second for the arts center  and overflow lot, and the third for the pavillion lot.  We will be parking in the second lot, to the left of the arts center.

From Atlanta take GA-400 N to exit 7B W/Holcomb Bridge Rd in Roswell. Continue west on Holcomb Bridge Rd for 5.7 miles. On your right you will pass Chick-fil-a and Mountain Park Rd. Take the next right immediately after the light. This is the entrance for the dog park and Art Center West.  Make an immediate left for the gravel overflow parking lot

If you pass this entrance, you will come to the main Leita Thompson entrance at the pavilion.  You can turn in here and then take an immediate right up the gravel path to the overflow lot.  Drive up the gravel road through the woods and park at the top of the hill.
