Itinerary:

Bridging the GAP - and testing the newly completed sections.

Join me for the FULL 50 G'way ride - starting at the Roswell, Old Alabama lot . For those of you who have not been on the FULL 50 Big Creek Greenway, it is great!  It is very well maintained, clean, pretty and challenging (it could be sandy and damp in some spots). We might even see some wildlife. The Greenway is made up of mostly paved pathways through the woods with some boardwalks mixed in. We plan to do about 50 miles, starting from the Old Alabama parking lot area. Once we get over to the UNION HILL Sk8 Park section there is a short GRAVEL section that goes up to Reagan Pkwy (and rejoins a bike path/sidewalk). From there we’ll rejoin the Greenway at Halcyon (Forsyth section (north of that is where it gets interesting, see middle of green profile map)). We'll ride to the end of the Forsyth Greenway, at the Canton Hwy junction. We’ll reach the end (re-group if necessary) grab a snack (self-supported) and head back!

I will be making a few planned “nature breaks” and a few random regrouping stops, but overall we’ll stop when needed.
The ride is suitable for a fast rider on a hybrid, cyclocross bike, but most ideal is a road bike...just know your skill set on loose dirt, sand and gravel. Avg pace for the entire ride is 15mph...most certainly not a beginner ride. Sawtooth Pass and the last portion of G'way near Canton Hwy. is insanely steep, be geared appropriately (and your brakes are dialed in)! For comparison...the RED circles on the elevation picture for the event are around the Marconi climbs...just so you know what you're getting in to.

**Please be sure you’re cool with the decking part of the Forsyth section; Road bikes are fine, just watch wet leaves, mold & mildew on decking boards.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Roswell -Old Alabama Rd. Trailhead

1600 Old Alabama Road, Roswell, GA

GA 400 to exit 7 (Holcomb Bridge Rd) and go East towards Norcross

Left at second traffic light onto Old Alabama Rd (Second traffic light). McDonalds is on your right)

Go about 1/3 mile and entrance to Roswell Greenway is on your left - you will turn in to a small parking lot. There is a beige (I think) sign with green writing. Come through that parking lot (continuing away from Old Alabama Rd) and follow the paved road over the hill. There will be a parking area and small restroom building on your right. We'll meet by the restroom building.

Notes:

Be an ambassador to the sport and be courteous #OnYourLeft

Remember it's the greenway, not a race course...don't be a FRED! yeah we like to go fast, but keep the 20+ pace for the roads
