Write Up:

Twenty quirky individuals set out on a hot Sunday morning in quest of six tiny doors. We found them all, and though we had a large group, we all stayed together to finish strong as a team. We gathered in the Krog Street Market, some arriving early enough to grab a fresh-baked, handmade pastry from The Little Tart Bakeshop before circling up for introductions.

First stop: Krog Street Tunnel, an Atlanta artistic landmark in itself. We all walked right past Tiny Door number one until sharp-eyed Julie spotted it. Moving onto the beltline, we admired the rhino statue before veering back off the beltline to venture into the streets of Inman Park. Discovering the second tiny door at the pet shop, we had the tremendous fortune to personally meet and chat with Karen, one of the two Co-Directors of Tiny Doors ATL. She filled us in on some of the history and philosophy around the tiny doors concept. We continued on into Little Five Points, admiring the eclectic neighborhood before tracking down door number three. Back through L5P to pick up the PATH across North Highland and into Freedom Park. Here we found the fourth tiny door of the day, the Tree Door, near the Carter Presidential Library.

Back down to the beltline, but first! a previously unannounced stop at the King of Pops storefront for cooling chocolate sea salt, sweet tea & lemonade, raspberry margarita and other delicious, refreshing flavors. Then we continued on our mission, locating our fifth door near the old Fourth Ward skate park. Just one left! and we found it at Paris on Ponce, pausing to explore the antique shops and dark, cool party place.

Back along the beltline we went, returning to Krog Street Market, where many of us stayed afterwards for lunch. Thank you to co-lead and photographer extrordinaire, John. A big thank you to all you quirky folks who made this day so delightful. I hope you had as much fun as I did!
