Write Up:

We had a fine time together yesterday evening at Piedmont Park and after the hike virtually everyone stuck around for the marvelous outdoor ASO concert!  We actually felt very lucky to have a light rain shower during our first half hour together that caused the temperature to plummet from the 90s into the comfortable high 70s.

Our hike included some of the lesser known trails and walkways in the newer NE quadrant of the Park including the free public portions of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Six-Springs Wetland trail and a gravel portion of the Atlanta Beltline.

For the concert, as promised we had an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the music on the hillside walkway overlooking the Promenade stage and lawn. Thanks to my friend and co-leader Bobby for helping us organize and hold our viewing space.  Conductor Joseph Young and the Orchestra did a bangup job with beautiful music including excerpts from Carmen, Les Miz and Offenbach's rowsing "Can Can" from Orpheus in the Underworld.

Thanks to my fellow AOCers - friends both old and new - who made this such an unforgettable experience!  A third free ASO Promenade concert "will be offered in the Park on June 25th for all who'd like attend on your own.  You can get your own free reserved tickets by going to AtlantaSymphony.org this morning (Fri) and clicking the 25th, etc.
