Write Up:

We five "early bird" hikers had a wonderful time together this morning on this ~7-mile "off-the-beaten-path" circuit of the mountain that included several "hidden gems."  Among these were the lovely creekside trail that connects the Park's Songbird Habitat area with the Cherokee Trail, the eastern shoulder of the mountain between the old Railroad Yard and the outdoor Quarry Museum, and a bit of the Evergreen Resort's lakeside trail system that branches off the Cherokee.
Since the forecast expected mid-90s this afternoon we were happy to get up early and take advantage of the relatively cool 70s & low 80s (+light traffic!) by doing the hike between 7:00 and 10:30AM.  Thanks to Jenny for treating us to a delicious light breakfast of homemade chocolate-chip bran muffins!  -Submitted by Charlie, Fri 6:30 PM
