Kudos and praise is given to the members of the AOC who went on a first time adventure in the history of AOC (I searched every hike in the archives and didn't find a listing of what we accomplished). Many have hiked the trails of the mountain but none have attempted to go the distance. A brave troop of 11 (including myself) ventured to do all 16.5 miles of the Kennesaw Mt. loop. Our group began our adventure at the base of KM and continued to reach our first stop for lunch at the Illinois Monument on the Cheatam Hill trail. When everyone was rested and fueled up we made our way to take on the Kolb Farm trail. Our scenery included a really cool bamboo forest and greeting horses and riders along the way. When we reached Kolb Farm, we walked up to view it but decided against trying to cross over Powder Spring's road to explore the cabin that is located on the property. The decision was a good one, because seconds after the decision was made a car had blown through the light and would have surely hit one of us crossing (added to the adventure), many cars that were in the intersection were blowing their horns and hitting their breaks. From there we made our way back to the visitor's center to complete our journey. Everyone made every step, with tired weary legs and feet we could all celebrate our accomplishment. I am so proud of these trail warriors. Our total time from start to finish was right at 6 hours...I am looking forward to posting this hike again in the future and would travel the trails with these brave hikers any day. GOOD JOB! Stay tuned for pictures to post. Tracey
