We had a great time on the Hooch this past Sunday. The weather was amazing, as we are experiencing some of the first cooler days of fall here in Atlanta. Welcome Eliott on his first trip with the AOC, and thank you all for making my first co-lead experience a great one! A big thanks also to "The Kayak Guy" aka Scott who was able to rent two of the group members kayaks for the trip at a very reasonable rate. 

Our trip down the river included navigating several class I rapids while maneuvering through the shoals. After the recent rains, the river was fairly high and moving fast, so even with a stop at the jumping rock, we finished well ahead of schedule.  The jumping rock was a great opportunity for the more veteran members of the group to show up the young folks and take a leap from the rock into the rather brisk waters of the hooch. This co-leader stayed warm on the riverbanks! 

The trip concluded with the group getting an extra workout navigating the shoals on the left side of "Long Island" before exiting the river by Paces Mill. Thank you everyone for joining Charlie and I for this happy hour and I hope to see you all on a trip in the near future!
