What a lovely gem we have right here in our backyard. Stone Mountain never fails to please, especially when you venture onto some of the lesser-known trails and far from the madding crowd. Our little group clocked a respectable 12.9 miles and we're secure in ourselves enough to not have to get that last tenth of a mile. We explored most of the trails, running into friends along the way (including AOCer Jean Frost).
When we summited the mountain the second time, we were shocked by the vast number of people climbing the walk-up trail on this gorgeous day. Our foray off the beaten path had largely shielded us from the masses. Upon finishing, we celebrated our accomplishment with pizza and beverages at a nearby cafe. What a great day!
