Write Up:
It began with strong cool winds at the trailhead. As the weather warmed, the winds died down and we were able to enjoy some beautiful views from the mountain ridges. The trees in the valleys were beginning to bloom, on the mountain tops just beginning to bud. White, Yellow, and pink ground flowers are popping out on the trail. After setting up camp at Gooch Camp site, we walked 1.5 miles to the Gooch gap shelter. We met lots of through hikers, Some from Boston, Oklahoma, New Hampshire. We wished them well as they follow the blazes toward Maine. Very cool that so many people begin such an awesome life journey here in our wonderful state. We had some guitar tunes by Scott accompanied by egg shakers from Kristi and some not so eloquent singing from the rest of the group. We shared our campsite with some guys from Tennessee. They gave us lessons about life on their farm. One included raccoon dumplings on the dinner menu. Jake, Ellie, and Oscar were are four-legged friends for the weekend and kept us entertained. It was quite a long night with howling winds making it feel colder. Sunday morning, Everyone packed up, had breakfast and headed back to the trailhead. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? story_fbid=10153406360066034&id=668941033
