An exciting day! All 20 members showed up for the hike with time to spare, despite the late night reminder email that cautioned a strong possibility of rain and chilly temperatures. But the rain bubble held, giving us glorious sunshine and perfect hiking temperatures. The excitement came when we discovered workers from Kabbage (online lenders) closing down the long uphill trail at the base of the stairs. We were sorely disappointed not to be able to access the climb until we soon discovered a brand new switchback trail in the making, which we were allowed to travel while the workers were busily at work on it. We were the first hikers to ever use the trail - - another AOC first! It is a vast improvement over the rutted out, rain-washed trail that we formerly had to take. Thank you for your work, Kabbage! Fourteen of us celebrated the 6-mile hike with yet another great lunch at the North River Tavern. ~ Joyce
