Write Up:

We celebrated Earth Day with a fantastic walkabout at Island Ford. With a slow drizzle bathing the land in reflected light, the earth came alive with vibrant sights, sounds, and smells. We marveled at the many shades of green sprouting up from below on the ground, and from above in the trees. As we hustled along the trails, the drizzle intensified into a steady, soaking rain.

After our hike, we gathered in the shelter of the visitor center for a poetry reading. We recited a variety of famous and original poems, songs, and quotes. We parted ways with the warm memory of a shared experience.

Raindrops keep falling on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes
Will soon be turning red
Crying's not for me, 'cause,
I'm never gonna stop the rain
By complaining,
Because I'm free
Nothing's worrying me...
