Write Up:

A big pat on the back to Joyce, Jennifer, Gerrilyn and Leticia for braving the impending ice storm yesterday and joining me for a couple of much-appreciated volunteer projects at Stone Mtn Park.  We began with a very pretty winter hike on the "Muscogee Trail" during which we picked up and hauled out several bags of litter.  It was Leticia's very first AOC outing and a delight to have her with us.
Special thanks to Joyce for taking more than 30 colorful photos and sharing her Facebook link to that album, including her excellent event notes copied below.  To view her photos click either the link below or on "Photo Album" atop this webpage.

Joyce's intro notes in her album:
The weather cooperated, allowing us to do both our trail maintenance on the Muscogee Trail and our volunteer work with the Georgia Native Plant Society. The hike on the trail lasted only an hour, but it was such an enjoyable experience. There are beautiful lake views as well as fantastic rock formations. Then we drove two miles (still in Stone Mountain Park) to join Karen McCaustland, who hosts the volunteer work for the Georgia Native Plant Society.
We worked diligently, raking up piles of leaves and organizing the seemingly thousands of empty pots used for plant propagation.
Charlie is the new AOC Director of Volunteer Events - and this was his first planned event of the year. Charlie promises that there will be many more opportunities in the coming months for club members to help with worthwhile outdoor projects.
