Write Up:
It was an overcast but delightful morning hike as 17 of us set out to make the rounds at Leita Thompson today at 10:05 (withholding who was late but he has a Mustang convertible). It was about 55 degrees as we headed towards the lake with "young" Jeff and Laura out front and the group a little spread out. As usual, there was delightful banter among the hikers. Several of the hikers looked for their favorite Leita Thompson regular walkers and runners but only the lady with the large poodles was spotted. It was an interesting pace as Steve asked to speed things up and then, as we were doing 16-17 minute miles, asked, on behalf of others perhaps, to slow things down. Trish's hiking pole was almost left leaning on the porta-potty near the lake. Gerrilyn safely left us near the parking lot a little early due to leg cramps which some thought was caused by her not wearing one of her signature hiking hats today. "Young" Jeff and Laura finished at noon while the rest finished at 12:05 to complete our 2 hour outing. Mileage estimates ranged from 6.2 to 7.25 but and this writer declared 6.5 miles as our official distance today. 9 hikers, also joined by Joe, enjoyed the food and comradery at Panera right after the hike. We are all looking forward to next week's Valentine Day hike at Leita Thompson. ~Dan
