Just a couple of today's members had seen West Palisades, so it was a new trail for the group. We had no newbies on this regularly scheduled Monday morning hike, so we tackled some of the challenging hills in order to cover the whole park, from the main parking lot all the way to the bathrooms across from the East Palisades Jumping Rock. We even took a detour to see the Akers Mill parking lot, where events sometimes begin.  

Though we covered just a little over 4 miles, they were tough ones - - but by staying way up front, I was impervious to the grumbles and whines coming from the group. (This is a joke. Everyone did an amazingly good job today!)

It's gratifying to show members new places that they enjoy seeing - - especially on a beautiful day like today. We even saw two herons and lots of cormorants on the river - - a real treat. ~ Joyce
