Write Up:

This was our second anniversary for this trip.  We had many repeating participants and the new ones found out just how cool it was.  We arrived at Lake Blue Ridge Outfitters in Morganton to VIP treatment, goody bags with snacks was plenty of crew to load our gear.  We climbed into three vans and headed up to Deep Hole Recreation Area for the put-in.  The river was running higher and getting through rapids was easier, but we still had to watch out for many rocks.  Many of us got snagged and took a dip on multiple occasions!  Although it was cloudy and rainy, the spirits were high with the great natural summertime beauty of the Toccoa River.  We got into camp late afternoon and got a little rain.  Todd and Grant set up Bill's big tarp that we'd brought along.  That action, along with a sunshine dance lead by Andrew, our outfitter, insured no more rain for the remainder of the trip!  Some members took a 6 mile trail run up the hill to Hwy 60 and back on the Benton MacKaye Trail.  We had happy hour on the famous BMT Swinging Bridge and then returned to camp to cook dinner.  After dinner, the music began with Luke, Grant, and Todd.  The music played on with much singing, then escalating into a great dance session.  It was at times like a dance club and a Grateful Dead concert rolled into one!  Even the neighbors came over from the other camps to join in the music and merriment.  It was quite a scene and so much fun!  The next morning the crew met us with coffee and tea, quite a treat in the middle of the wilderness.  We paddled out and down to Sandy Bottom Recreation Area for our take out three hours later.  Really awesome trip!
