Write Up:

It was fun getting together to make plans for experiencing this upcoming "outdoor event of a lifetime."  The fact that this and three other AOC eclipse events immediately "sold out" with wait lists is proof enough that there's a huge amount of interest among our members.
Thanks to Joyce and Mark who gave "strategy summaries" for their scheduled hiking-while-viewing eclipse-day outings at GA's Brasstown Bald and the Highlands, NC vicinity, respectively.  We also discussed the driving expedition that I'm planning, weather permitting, to view the eclipse with hundreds of other general-public skygazers
in the lovely SC upcountry.  Our plan is to enjoy Clemson University's huge eclipse party and then also view the eclipse from the shore of Lake Keowee beside "The Lighthouse."
At our "pre-Social gathering" we also discussed a variety of safe techniques for viewing the partial phases, including specially filtered binoculars & telescopes, lightweight eclipse glasses and "pinhole projection boxes."
Keep your fingers crossed that we'll have good weather on eclipse day and keep looking up!
