Write Up:

We took shelter from a light shower just after starting out hike, but within five minutes the rain ended and we had a sunny, albeit humid, Monday morning hike at Roswell Area Park. This facility is seldom used by our club, but it deserves attention. The trails are packed gravel, smooth and well-maintained. There is plenty to see along the way, including athletic fields, pavilion areas, a large aerated pond, a Visual Arts Center, a huge Recreation Center and a children's playground.

Two sculptures are temporarily on display in the park, entries in the annual ArtAround Roswell exhibitions (Oak Leaf Tryptich and Sunflower)..

The park is used by athletic teams, so it is lit at night until 11 pm, making it ideal for after-dark walks.

We had Jennifer L.'s husband, James, as a newbie to the club, plus a visit from Savon, who is now living out of the state. Trena's frozen popsicles were welcomed by all when we completed our 4-mile jaunt.

Stay tuned for a posting of next week's Beginners Welcome hike. ~ Joyce
