Beautiful hike at Garland Mountain - we saw quite a few horses, dodged a few piles of horse ****

Saw a brick colored frog - saw two deer that stood a few seconds, watched us and then the young female walked towards us seemingly unafraid. She didn't come too close and then bolted into the woods.  I had planned on hiking eight miles but we just barely cleared seven. it was very hot and humid.  The trails were very muddy.  I don't think anyone minded that we came short on mileage.
