It's very rewarding to get such a large group of fit members together to do a challenging local hike on a warm, humid Sunday morning. We had two new members (Bess and Patricia) who pushed themselves to the limit, but stayed with the group.

We tackled the BAH early in the hike to get it behind us. But that was just one of many long, steep hills we hiked during our three hours on the trails. We wanted to get in a lot of elevation, so we didn't take the lower riverside trails - - and we clocked in 1,120 feet of gain during our trek.

Ample fluids are essential during these summer hikes. Our group stopped several times to hydrate and had drenched clothes to show for our efforts. What a feeling of accomplishment to get through a difficult hike like this one without injury and with smiles of satisfaction on the faces of the participants. ~ Joyce
