This was a surreal trail: all the hills were UP in both directions!! (At least it felt like it to me.) The event was a D5, and it lived up to its rating . . . about 13 miles with around 2,600 feet of ascent. But there were certainly rewards: beautiful views of the distant mountains, extensive mountain laurel tunnels, leaf-strewn trails, and a fantastic swinging bridge above a scenic river. Mesmerizing!

Russ did his usual excellent job of researching the hike, so he guided us flawlessly along the trails. We enjoyed a brief lunch at the turnaround point and we loved the cool, dry air that accompanied us throughout the hike. 

This is definitely a trail to add to your bucket list! ~ Joyce
