After days of rain, what a beautiful day for a hike at Red Top Mountain State Park.  Today we explored the Iron Hill Trail and a "secret" peninsula where an old abandoned campground existed from the mid 40's to the mid 80's.  While exploring this area we also got to spend some time on a pretty secluded beach used by boaters from time to time.

Also during the hike, we went into a former open pit iron ore mine that was active between the 1840's to the early 1900's and learned a bit more about the active iron industry that operated in this area during this period.  All in all, a great hike.  ~ Holt
