Another great day for a hike at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  This time we hiked Pigeon Hill and the Noses Creek and Hardage Mill trails.  It was a beautiful day for our hike other than the high pollen count but that didn't slow us down.   Along the way, we learned a bit about the battle of Kennesaw Mountain and specifically about the actions that occured around Pigeon Hill and Burnt Hickory Road that happened in June, 1862.

Our hike followed miles of Confederate earthworks that were occupied during the battle.  The forest is definitely waking up and it was good to get this hike in before all the leaves make seeing the earthworks more challenging.  We finished our 5 mile hike in a little under 2 hours and achieved a surprising 760 feet of gain.   ~ Holt
