Write Up:
Another great hike around the mighty Coosa! Seventeen participants got an early 7 am start up to Vogel State Park to hike one of the toughest trails in Georgia. The skies remained cloudy most of the day with only a couple of attempts by the sun to break through. Intermitent mist, a small shower, and a cooling breeze kept the humidity at bay. Our group of AOC hikers had the trail mostly to themselves. Everyone made the 13 mile loop in good form. Trip leaders Scott Looper and Tom Jarosz wore heavy packs while training for seperate Rainier trips coming up soon.
