Write Up:Not a cloud in the sky for the most part - a good day to hike Sweetwater! We had 14
hikers on the trail for Saturday. The trail was quiet on the east end but as soon as we
got to the red trail it picked up. There is still blowdown on the white trail just before
Jack's Branch. I did report it a while ago - nothing done yet. I'm going to remind myself
next time to bring my Sven saw. If this was the A/T (the people's trail) it would have
been cleared immediately. The creek was low - we took a stop for a short break where
Amy enjoyed a quick foot soaking. Everyone did a great hike considering the humidity &
heat (no wind). Sweetwater is one of my favorite in town hikes (when I'm not hiking in
the North
Georgia Mountains). I hope everyone else enjoys the park as I do. Sweetwater offers a
lot of diversity and there is no flat ground. I would like to welcome Ann C & Pat M to the
club. Hey Ann don't forget those homemade cookies next time! The hike was finished
close to scheduled time with good mileage (11.8 miles-4.5 hr ) and returned home with
plenty of time to
mow the lawn. Looking forward to Springer Mountain 17.0 next week.
